Subcaucus Calculators

Eric Celeste and his son
took the Subcaucus Calculator Mark Viste and I made up in '08 and made the most nifty little iPhone app you could imagine. Subcaucus Calculator? There's an app for that! (See the link to a treasure trove of documents below)

Subcaucus Calculator in Excel -this is the one from Geo. Greene and Dr. Mark Viste from 08 and does calculate remainder delegates

Here's Deb Taylor's Subcaucus Calculator that reports viability as well as remainders

Documents

Powerpoints, and a pile of other documents on Precinct Caucuses and subcaucusing, can be found in the Caucus and convention section in the file galleries at the Aurora site (see download icon in left menu). You will need to be logged in to even see the files.

One there you'll want to click the little icon (as below) to expand the file tree (where it says "file Galleries").

The choose Caucuses and Conventions":

You'll find all sorts of documents for caucuses and conventions including a nifty subcaucus calculator (Excel doc) and other sample forms, worksheets and guides.(This is one part of an ongoing effort to archive all important media in CD3 that we started in 2006. The full archive is at the main file gallery.)

Videos

Caucusing:

I've had numerous requests for caucus videos lately. Here are three that I know of (and I'd like to know of more!):

Get Involved! An Invitiation to Precinct Caucuses

Page of links for streaming and downloads various file sizes (including phones!)

Audience: First time or one time caucus attendees Purpose: Recruitment of long term volunteers Run time: 14min Venues: Caucus training, DFL Links, Cable Access, Campaign delegate training

You may request a DVD for a suggested donation of 15 bucks and we'll mail it to you. Send requests to unclegeo@bstock.com.

Wendy Wilde was our expert narrator, with expert videography by Terry Grant. The intent was to take someone with no knowledge about Precinct Caucuses and give them an overview of what to expect. We also wanted to stress the importance of volunteering and what's in it for the volunteer. We chose not to cover subcaucusing (which, in the suburbs anyway, is usually done only at SD Conventions).

Subcaucusing:

Al Franken's

Video on subcaucusing is great and nicely dovetails with ours in that it covers subcaucusing in detail.

Terri Bonoff also had a clever video on subcaucusing using animated talking M&Ms to create the subcaucuses.
