Poorly framed Questions

President Obama's budget now exempts from cuts, national security, veteran's programs, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security -the most expensive and fast growing areas of the budget. As a Member of Congress, how would you address the 1.35 trillion budget deficit

<p>
Properly framed Questions

28 years of reckless and irresponsible Republican fiscal policies have created a national debt and deficits on an historic, unprecedented scale. What specific initiatives will you propose or support to reverse the Republican Borrow and Spend policies which have so weakened our national finances and capabilities?(Professor)

Discussion: The poorly framed question seems tailor made for Conservatives. 1) it frames it from a spending rather than investment angle and 2) it leaves the primary cause of the huge deficit and national debt out. The runaway spending by the Bush administration on wasteful things, tax cuts on the wealthiest Ameriocans and the deregulation of the banking industry both ran up the debt and required further spending increases to stop the economy from failing.(Geo)_

Our question should address the historical tendency of Republicans to greatly overspend  and then make the problem worse by reducing taxes on the wealthy. The Professor accomplishes this. (Geo)
