J. Drake Hamilton - Science Policy Director for Fresh Energy
Why was the Senate unable to pass an energy bill?
What is the next step we need to take to get a bill passed?
What should it include?
J. Hamilton has made frequent trips to Washington to discuss solutions to global warming that need to be included in a new energy bill. As it became clear that the Senate would not have the 60 votes needed to overcome a fillibuster, the Senate decided not to take an energy bill up at this time. J. will tell us what stood in the way of progress on the bill and will explain the political forces for and against renewable energy and what our prospects are for reducing carbon emissions.
J. Drake Hamilton directs Fresh Energy's Global Warming Solutions program. She does scientific analysis, policy development, and advocacy of clean energy solutions to global warming that will maximize economic opportunities for the Midwest. She was formerly assistant professor at the George Washington University. J. was awarded an international leaders fellowship in 2005 from the European Union, and used that award to study global warming policy solutions. She serves on the boards of the U.S. Climate Action Network and U.S. Green Building Council - Minnesota Chapter.

Jim Meffert - DFL Candidate for the U.S. House
Jim Meffert is a problem solving can-do person who is committed to fighting for Minnesota families, children, and workers. He will promote stronger financial regulation, health care for everyone, preschool through college education, and clean energy. You can find out more about him at his website http://jimmeffert.com and right here on the Home page of the CD3 website.
His opponent Eric Paulsen received very low scores from www.theMiddleClass.org and from the League of Conservation Voters. His constituents are not happy with his votes of no on all the groundbreaking legislation that passed the House since Obama's election. Click on the Home page and look for the article in the lower left column.
We need to let everyone know what an excellent candidate we have to represent CD3. There's no better way than to bring people along to meet him.Mark your calendar! Invite others and stop first at Green Mill for their happy-hour or plan to stay afterwards.
